These tasks will give your teachers the opportunity to provide feedback on your learning.
This week we are asking you to upload a writing task.
Every day you can choose a task to complete from each of the sections below: Reading, Writing, Maths, Inquiry and Wellbeing.
Please write the date for each activity completed.

Wellbeing
Learning Intention:
We are learning to reflect on our learning and recognise when we have tried new things
Task:
- Did you know your brain GROWS every time you try new things?
Now you can track just how much it's growing with your Garden of Learning!
Every flower represents a time when you tried something new.
Your garden — and your brain — will keep growing every time you add flowers to it.
How big can you make YOUR Garden of Learning?

Think about the new things that you have tried this term.
For each new thing, draw or write about it on a flower and add it to your garden.
(30+ minutes)
Reading
Learning Intention:
We are learning to reflect on our reading
Task:
- As you are reading this week, think about all of the things you are able to do as a good reader.
Choose one of your independent reading sessions (10 minutes per day) this week and, after reading, reflect on the things you did well.
Use the checklist below to guide you and have a chat with a family member about them.
Write or draw 2 things that you did well.
(20 minutes)

Learning Intention:
We are learning to change the beginning letters to make new words that rhyme
Task:
- We will introduce this task at Tuesday’s Webex Essential session.
Read the sets of rhyming words below.
Can you hear the sounds at the end of the words?
They sound the same, they rhyme.
Choose one of the blank charts and see if you can make a list of words that rhyme by adding different beginning letter sounds.
(10 minutes)

Learning Intention:
We are learning to retell a story
Task:
- Choose a favourite book from your Bug Club library that you have read while learning from home.
Draw a picture of what happened in the story at the beginning, middle and end.
Then, use these pictures to help you retell your story to a member of your family.
(20 minutes)
For example:

Writing
Learning Intention:
We are learning to write a full stop at the end of a sentence
Task:
- There are lots of people who have helped our community to stay healthy and safe while we have been staying at home.
To say thank you to the nurses, doctors and police officers, draw a picture and write a sentence or two.
Don’t forget to add your full stops to the end of your sentences.
(20 minutes)

Ask Mum or Dad to send your letter to your teacher, who will pass these on to a local police officer to share with nurses and doctors at Box Hill Hospital, and police officers at Box Hill and Forest Hill Police Stations.
Learning Intention:
We are developing our fine motor skills
Task:
- Make your own finger puppets. You can make as many as 10, one for each finger.
Think about what kind of puppets you might like to make. They could be animals or maybe friends from our class.
After you have made your puppets, put on a show for your family.
Think of where your puppets live.
What are they doing? Who are they with?
(20 minutes)

Learning Intention:
We are learning to write a recount about something that has already happened
Tasks:
- You are going to write a recount about putting on your puppet show.
Good writers organise their thinking before writing.
Using the table below, draw a picture in each of the columns:
when - is a time
where - is a place
what - is a thing or action
who - is a person
(10 minutes).

- Using your table, write a sentence about what happened when you put on your puppet show.
Don’t forget to include when, where, what and who.
(15 minutes).
Success Criteria:
- I used a capital letter at the beginning of the sentence and a full stop at the end.
- I have spaces between my words.
- I included a when, where, what and who in my sentence.
- I independently used the sounds I know to attempt all words.
Please take a photo of the above task and send it to your teacher through the Sentral Parent Portal
Maths
Learning Intention:
We are learning to practise our Maths fluency with games
Tasks:
- Choose one fluency game each day to practise the skills we have been working on.
(20 minutes each day)

Learning Intention:
We are learning to use information to answer simple questions
We will be reviewing our pictographs on Thursday’s Webex Essential. Please bring your work.
Task:
- Look at the pictograph below.

Now, see if you can use the information to answer some questions and write the answers in your book.
(15 minutes)
- What do you think this graph is about?
- Which pet is the most popular?
- Which pet is the least popular?
- How many people have pets altogether?
P.E/Movement Breaks:

To view the Leader Board after the first week click here.
In case you forgot how it works…
- Keep track of how much time you spend being active from Monday to Friday each week
1 minute of any form of exercise = 1km
- Keep track of the type of activity you participate in from Monday to Friday each week
E.g. walking, running, skipping, bike riding
Click here to enter your results by 3pm Friday.
Remember to demonstrate the school value of integrity when entering your results.
For example, if you complete a total of 30 minutes exercise every day from Monday to Friday you will contribute 30km! (30 x 1+ 30).
Bonus offer – We will double results for the first 5 people who submit their results and have used a particular type of exercise (hint- one word R _ _ _ _ _ _ ),
Good luck and remember every kilometre counts!!
Inquiry
Learning Intention:
We are learning to describe what is special about ourselves and our families
Task:
- This week we will continue making our book to finish our inquiry unit answering the question,
“What is my family history?”
Make sure you take your time and do your best work because we will include these books in our classroom library when we go back to school.
Make another 4 pages for your book by folding a piece of paper in half and in half again.
Cut along the folds to make 4 pages.
Copy the sentences below and draw a picture to match.
(20+ minutes)
- This is what makes my family special.
- We like to...
- This is my school.
- At school I like to…

Science
Learning Intention:
We are learning to reflect on our knowledge about weather and show what we know
Task:
- This term we have learnt a lot about the weather.
Think about the different kinds of weather we have investigated. For example, sunny, rainy, hot, cold.
Using the information you know about weather you can now be creative.
You can choose to make an artwork, diorama or collage about the weather.
You could pretend to be a weather presenter like on TV and come up with your own weather report.
Keep it somewhere special and bring it to school to impress your teacher and class.
(30+ minutes)
