At Laburnum Primary School, we believe that all children should have access to a thoroughly planned, progressive physical education program which places a real emphasis on developing a wide range of physical competences, while encouraging healthy competition and teamwork.
Throughout their time at Laburnum Primary School, our Physical Education Teachers strive to equip all children with the necessary skills, knowledge and range of physical experiences to motivate them to lead lifelong active, healthy lifestyles, in which they continue their participation in physical activity and sport. We aim for all students to be actively involved in sport and acquire the necessary skills to participate in a fun, supportive environment. To achieve this, students at Laburnum Primary School focus directly on the fundamental motor skills (including run, kick, throw, catch, jump and bounce) from Prep right through to Year 6. In the Junior School, we focus heavily on the development of these skills.
Our Physical Education Curriculum is carefully planned to include a range of indoor and outdoor based lessons throughout the year and provides a varied and progressive learning program. All children will receive at least two hours of engaging, high quality and enjoyable physical education lessons per week with one hour dedicated with the Physical Education Teachers and the other hour dedicated for level sports during classroom hours. Appropriate provision is in place to support a range of learning needs and abilities and ensure positive outcomes for all children.
