Weeks 7-9 Learning from Home (Commencing 31 August)
[Previous weeks' Specialist pages are here]
Spanish
Learning Intention:
We are learning to listen to a book in Spanish and English
Activity 1:
Book Look!
The book “Go! Go! (Vaya! Vaya!) on Epic! includes two stories in the same book.
It is written in both English and Spanish.
We call this a bilingual book because it is written in two different languages.
Click through the pages and use the pictures to predict what the book might be about.
There might even be some words that you already know in the book that are written in English. If so, what are they?
Book: Go! Go! (Vaya! Vaya!) Click here
Activity 1:
The first story is called “Dusty and Zuzu Dress Up” (Dusty and Zuzu Se Visten).
Draw a picture of yourself dressed up to go to a party.
What are you wearing?
What colours are your clothes?
Do you have special shoes or accessories to wear?
Label this picture “En la fiesta” (At the party)
Activity 2:
The second book is called “Zuzu Likes to Go” (A Zuzu Le Gusta Ir).
Zuzu is very active in this next story!
She moves up and down, fast and slow and does lots of different things!
What things do you do to keep active and healthy?
Draw a picture of yourself being active in different ways.
Label your picture as “Yo ir, ir ir!” (I go, go, go!)
Activity 3:
Word Study
Choose ONE picture from the following sentences that appear in “Go! Go!” (Vaya! Vaya!) and draw what is happening.
Dusty waters her plants (Dusty riega sus plantas)
Dusty and Zuzu put on hats (Dusty y Zuzu se ponen sombreros)
Word detectives: Can you find these words in the stories?
Log on to ClickView and listen to the story here.
Note to parents: If possible, as the ClickView video is playing, open another webpage to access the book on Epic! so that your child can look at the pictures and words while they are listening.

Music
Learning Intention:
We are performing and recording our parts in a song with accurate tempo (speed) and pitch (high and low sounds)
Perform your sections of the song ‘We Go Together’.
You can choose to sing just your verse, or all 3 sections of the song.
You will need to use the previous videos, or the videos below, to sing with as I need you to be in time with the backing track.
It is very important that when you record your singing, that you have headphones on so I can hear just your voice and not the backing track.
Record your singing on a device and send the video or audio to me through the Sentral Parent Portal by Friday 11 September.
You may need to compress the video so it is a small enough size to send. You can do this through using software like QuickTime (Mac) or VLC (Windows). There are also websites that can do this for you.
Log on to ClickView and then click on the links for the following videos:
Art
Learning Intention:
To explore ideas, experiences, observations and imagination to create visual artworks
You all have a learning super power. Every time you practise something, you get better at it. If you have a problem, you can try to find a way to solve it.
A super hero never gives up and always tries their best. This is just like you!
Find a photo of yourself and attach it to the body of a super hero like below.
Click here for ideas about your super hero costume. You can use the templates for your super hero body, or draw one of your own.

Library
Learning Intention:
We are learning to compare two shortlisted books
We have been listening to the CBCA shortlisted books over the past few weeks.
There are six books that have been shortlisted in the ‘Early Childhood’ category.
One of the stories shortlisted was ‘When Billy Was a Dog’. To listen to this story again on Story Box Library click here.
‘My Dog Bigsy’ was shortlisted by the CBCA in 2016.
To listen to this story on Story box Library click here

Which was your favourite story? Why?
Do you have a pet? What is your pet’s name?
Do your pets remind you of Bigsy or Fluff?
What similarities do you see between Bigsy and Fluff?
Look at the image below of all the different types of pets people have. Can you think of any others?

Just like in the stories we have listened to, there are many important things you need to know about caring for a pet.
Most pets need food, water, somewhere to sleep and most importantly love and cuddles.
Create a poster about looking after a pet. See the example below:

Optional: Click here to learn how to play a game of charades with your family.
Choose an animal just like Billy did in the story ‘When Billy Was a Dog’ and act out how it moves and sounds.
See if your family can guess which animal you are.
