Music
Learning Intention:
We are learning to play body and cup percussion patterns
Log into ClickView and click here for instructions on how to do the rhythmic pattern below.
Once you are able to perform this pattern, play these rhythms in time with different pieces of music.
Art
Learning Intention:
We are learning to respond to visual artworks by describing subject matter and ideas and by considering where and why artworks are made
Designers at Asylum created a range of Fabric Jellyfish to show case fabrics by John Lewis, in a fabric store.
Click here to see photos of the display.
What do you think of these sculptures?
Describe the textures and patterns you see.
If you saw these in a store, what would you think? Would you want to touch them?
Make your own jellyfish sculpture with a paper plate or bowl. Turn your bowl or plate up-side- down and decorate the top. You can use paint or crayons, or glue on strips of fabric and paper.
Then cut long strips of paper, fabric scraps, wool, string, tape or ribbon and staple or tape these to the underside of your decorated top. Keep adding more and more until it becomes a wild tangle of colours and tentacles.
Attach a string through the middle of the top and you can hold this to bounce your jellyfish and “swim” it through the air.
Library
Learning Intention:
We are learning about the Children’s Book Council of Australia Book Week
Book Week this year is October 17-23 (Term 4).
Every year there is a theme for Book Week and this year it is ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds’.
Our Book Week dress up day will be held on Thursday 22 October.
Please come to school dressed as your favourite book character.
Each year across Australia the Children’s Book Council of Australia read lots of books and decide which six are the best.
They put these books on a special list called a ‘shortlist’.
The judges read these books and then decide which book they think is the best.
The winning book is announced during Book Week.

Design a poster to help promote our Book Week dress up day. These posters will be displayed around our school.
Include the date of our dress up day - Thursday 22 October.
Your poster should encourage everyone to come as their favourite book character.
You might like to draw a few examples such as a fairy-tale character, a Dr Seuss character or an animal character.
The theme is ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds.’ You may wish to add the theme to your poster.
You might also like to include titles of your favourite books and why you would recommend them to read.
Please use lots of colour and pictures in your poster.
