Wellbeing
Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships - 'Help Seeking'
This task needs to be completed in your blue scrapbook with the date written at the top of the page.
Learning Intentions:
We are learning to identify who we can ask for help
We are learning to identify who we can help
Task: We will introduce this task in Friday’s Webex Essential session.
- Below are pictures of two hands. You could print these out or you could trace your own hands.
One is labelled ‘5 People I Can Ask For Help’, the other, ‘5 People Who I Can Help.’
We use our hands because you have five fingers to remind you that you have at least five people that you can trust and that can help you when you feel sad or upset.
On the hand that says ‘5 People I Can Ask For Help’, write the names of 5 people at school or at home that you could talk to if you needed help.
It’s a good idea to include some trusted adults because they can help you with problems that are too big for children.
For example, this could be your parents or your teacher.
On the hand that says ‘5 People That I Can Help’, write the names of 5 people that you sometimes help.
These could be people at school or at home. For example, this could be your brother or sister!

Learning Intention:
We are learning to self-reflect using the LPS ‘Expected Behaviours for class meetings via Webex’ matrix
Task: We will introduce this task in Monday’s Webex Essential session and review on Friday.
- Look at the Resilience matrix for ‘Expected behaviours for class meetings via Webex’.
At the beginning of the week, choose one thing that you think you need to work on (we will remind you during Webex Essential on Monday).
Write a sentence about how you went at the end of the week.
(15 minutes)

Reading
These tasks need to be completed in your pink lined book with the date written at the top of the page.
Learning Intention:
We are learning to build our reading stamina by reading independently for 20 minutes every day
Task:
- It is really important that when we read we are able to concentrate on our book for a long time.
Find a quiet, comfortable place in your house to read a Just Right Book that has been assigned to you on Bug Club or Epic! (including books you may have already read).
This should look just like independent reading at school and you should do it every day.
(20 minutes per day)
Learning Intention:
We are learning to match captions with a photograph
Task: We will introduce this task in Tuesday’s Webex Essential session.
- Caption Picture Match
A caption is a piece of text that describes what is happening in a photo or diagram.
It’s usually found near the photo in a non-fiction text.
Read the captions below from the Year 1 ‘Non-Fiction Collection’ on Epic! and match them with their photo.
(30 minutes)

Learning Intention:
We are learning to label a diagram
Task:
- Non-fiction texts include labelled diagrams, which are pictures with keywords highlighted. These labels help readers understand a photo in more detail.
Below is an example of a labelled diagram of a dinosaur.

Choose your favourite animal (or an animal that you know really well) and draw a picture of it.
Label the important parts of your picture.
(30 minutes)
Learning Intention:
We are learning to keep a log of our daily reading
Task:
- Everyday when you read, you are expected to record what you have read, the pages you have read and the date you read in your yellow reading log.
If you don’t have one, you can record this at the back of your pink lined book.
(5 minutes)
Writing
These tasks need to be completed in your pink lined book with the date written at the top of the page.
Learning Intention:
We are learning to write a card for our dad/grandad or a special person
Task:
- This week on Sunday it’s Father’s Day!
To celebrate this special day we would like you to read the book ‘Happy Father’s Day’ on Epic! and write your dad/grandad or a special person a card about all the things you like to do with them.

Miss Marshall wrote this special message for her dad in her card;
Dear Dad,
I love going to the footy with you and cheering on the Saints. I also love when we go for walks along the beach and then have an ice cream at the cafe.
Happy Father’s Day!
I love you, you’re the best!
Love Kate
(30 minutes)
Learning Intentions:
We are learning to create an information report presented as a non-fiction book
We are learning to use our gathered information to write about ourselves
We are learning to publish
Task: We will introduce this task in Monday’s Webex Essential session.
- All About Me!
This week we are using our elaborated sentences and putting them together in the form of a book.
You can use some pages from your blue scrapbook if you don’t have any paper at home.
Fold the paper in half, using both sides (you will need about five pages).
Make sure you have enough paper for each page of your book.
You will need pages for:
1 Front cover, including title, author and illustrator
2 Contents page
3 What I look like (appearance)
4 Birthday/Age
5 Family Members
6 Hobbies
7 Likes/Dislikes
8 Interesting Facts (something not many people know about you)
9 Back cover, including a blurb
This task needs to be completed over the week, so that you do your best work presenting and completing your book.
Please keep these so we can put them in our class libraries when we go back to school!
Success Criteria:
- I can include at least 9 pages including headings and pictures on each page of my book
- I can write information about myself in sentences, using capital letters and full stops
- I can do my best work when publishing my book by writing neatly and creating beautiful illustrations
Please upload a picture of this work to the Sentral Parent Portal, with your name on it, by Friday.
(This task should be completed over the week, 30-40 minutes per day)

We are learning to practise a range of PE skills, such as punting, balancing, catching and underarm roll
The aim of this choice board is to let you choose what you would like to do!
It is designed for you to have fun, develop your fitness and skills and encourage you to be happy and healthy.
- For each day, you need to complete one of the following activity boxes
- When you complete all the activity boxes, you can have a go at some of the activities again
Please click here to use the ‘Equipment Replacement list’ to help you create a range of sports equipment at home using household items.

Scavenger Hunt:
Find all the common household items in the link here. When you find each item, check it off your list and have a go at doing the matching exercise.
Challenge: Time yourself and see how quickly you can complete the Physical Scavenger Hunt! Challenge a member of your house and see if they can beat your time.
|
Balloon and Ball Challenges:
Ask an adult to blow up a balloon for you so you can use the balloon to play the following activities. If you don’t have access to a balloon, don’t worry! You can use a beach ball, round toy, round ball or a soft toy.
Remember: If you find any of the activities challenging. You can always move onto the next activity.

Punting a Football:
Log into ClickView, and watch How to Punt a Football video here. There are a range of challenges you can complete. Make sure to watch the whole video!
Challenge: Create a punting activity, for example:
- You might use a range of kicking implements, such as paper, soft toy, tennis ball or a football.
- Create a game using targets such as, a hoop to punt into or a plastic water bottle to knock down with your punting implement.
- You may use a points or elimination system where the first player to knock down the most plastic water bottles, or scores a certain amount of points, wins.
- Punt a football as far as you can. Send a video of yourself punting a football via the Sentral Parent Portal to either Mr M or Mrs Yue-Lamb.
|
Balance and flexibility:
For this activity, you will need enough space for your arms and legs to stretch freely without having to touch anything inside or outside your house.
See if you can hold each position for 20 sec or more!
Remember: Your muscles keep your body upright. Without your muscles you wouldn’t be able to stretch, bend or walk. To keep your muscles strong and flexible, it is important to exercise them every day!
A great way to make this activity more fun is to use some music!
Click here to download your activity.
|
Knock ‘em Down:
For this activity, you need a range of target objects (e.g. teddies, toilet rolls, drink bottle) and a round ball. You will also need to create a points system for hitting certain targets e.g. 1 point to knock down the toilet roll tower, 2 points to knock down the water bottle, etc.
You must use an underarm roll to knock down or hit your targets. The distance away from the target can be as far or as close as you would like it to be.
Once you are more confident with your underarm roll, challenge yourself and have a starting point further away. You can even allocate larger or bigger points for the targets that are harder to knock down e.g. A small object might be worth more points.
If you like, send a video of yourself practising the underarm roll to either Mr M or Mrs Yue-Lamb via the Sentral Parent Portal.
