Spanish
Learning Intention:
We are learning about the experiences of children in a Spanish city
Activity 1:
Watch the following video about the lives of children who live in Valencia, Spain.
Log on to ClickView and locate the video “Being Spanish” here.
Listen carefully for words that you ALREADY know.
Are there other words that you understand the meaning of when looking at the text on the screen?
Write down a short list of any words that you recognise in this video.
Activity 2:
One activity the children do is visit the beach “Vamos a la playa” (We go to the beach).
What do they do at the beach?
Do you do the same things or different things?
Draw a picture of things you can do at the beach and label the parts of your picture using the Spanish words below as your guide.
Log on to ClickView and find out how these words are pronounced here.
Activity 3:
Complete the following sentences below using the Spanish words in Activity 2 to fill in the gaps.
For example: The fish swim in…el mar.
At the beach, I can feel the warmth of ______________ when I walk on it.
I can see ______________ which is green, washed up on the beach.
When I walk along the beach, I could feel ______________ splash on to my feet.
I decorated the sandcastle I made with _______________ I found.
As I walked along the pier, I looked down and could see ______________ swimming in the water.
Music
Learning Intention:
We are performing and recording our parts in a song with accurate tempo (speed) and pitch (high and low sounds)
Perform your sections of the song ‘We Go Together’.
You can choose to sing just your verse, or all 3 sections of the song.
You will need to use the previous videos, or the videos below, to sing with as I need you to be in time with the backing track.
It is very important that when you record your singing, that you have headphones on so I can hear just your voice and not the backing track.
Record your singing on a device and send the video or audio to me through the Sentral Parent Portal by Friday 11 September.
You may need to compress the video so it is a small enough size to send.
You can do this through using software like QuickTime (Mac) or VLC (Windows). There are also websites that can do this for you.

Art
Learning Intention:
To experiment with different materials, techniques and processes to make artworks in a range of art forms and to respond to visual artworks, by describing subject matter and ideas
A thaumatrope is an animation device for your drawings.
Discover how to make one here and find images for inspiration here.

Flip one image upside down before gluing onto the back if you are using string or rubber bands into holes at the sides.
If you are spinning a stick make sure both images are the same side up.
Remember you only have to draw ONE thing on each side. They will blend as you spin.
The thaumatrope in the video example was inspired by the painting, Lady with her Pets.

Library
Learning Intentions:
We are learning to compare two CBCA shortlisted books
We have been listening to the CBCA shortlisted books over the past few weeks
There are six books that have been shortlisted in this category
One of the stories shortlisted is’ One Runaway Rabbit’. To listen to this story again on Story Box Library click here.
‘The Great Rabbit Chase’ was shortlisted by the CBCA in 2018. To listen to this story
on Story Box Library click here.

Which was your favourite of these two books and why?
Why do you think the judges chose these books to be shortlisted?
What similarities do you notice about the rabbits Lulu and Gumboot?
Do you know any other books about rabbits?
Create two story maps.
On the first map draw and label where Lulu ran in the story 'One Runaway Rabbit'.
On the second map draw where Gumboot ran in ‘The Great Rabbit Chase’
See example below:

Optional:
Did you notice the shadows in the illustrations of the story ‘One Runaway Rabbit?
Lulu goes on a night time adventure and shadows were made by the moon, the streetlights and from lights inside the neighbourhood homes.
Choose characters from the story and create your own Shadow Box theatre where you can retell the story.
To learn how to make a shadow box theatre for this story click here.
You can create other characters and create a brand new story involving Lulu the Runaway rabbit, you might even like to include Gumboots the Rabbit in the story.
