Wellbeing
Learning Intention:
We are learning to develop a growth mindset
Tasks:
- Can you think of something you didn’t know how to do before, but now you do? How did you learn?
Talk about this with a family member. Now think of something you would like to learn.
Complete this sentence and draw a picture of you doing something you don’t know how to do YET.
(15 minutes)

- It can take time to learn how to do something. This spider had to learn how to make a web, look at the before and after pictures and see how successful he was.

Draw a before and after picture of yourself as you learn to do something.
(15 minutes)
Reading
Learning Intention:
We are learning to stop and reread when a sentence doesn’t make sense
Task:
- This week in independent reading (10 minutes every day), we are going to focus on rereading.
When you come to an unknown word or make an error, you can try any of these strategies:

Try to practise the rereading strategy while you are completing your independent reading.
Parent tip: you could support your children when they come to an unknown word by asking, “What could you try?”
If they still can’t figure out the word, you may suggest two alternatives e.g. “could it be horse or house?”
Learning Intention:
We are learning to create rhyming words
Task:
- Play Go Fish with a family member or favourite toy.

Draw some simple pictures, like those above, onto different pieces of card.
Place these cards upside down in a pretend pond. Each time it is your turn, fish a card from the pond.
If you can say a word that rhymes with the picture you picked up, keep your card!
It can be a made up word if you like e.g. Tap – Fap.
If you cannot think of a rhyming word, place your card back in the pond.
Take turns with your partner. The person with the most cards at the end wins.
(20+ minutes)

Learning Intention:
We are learning to share opinions about books and give a reason
Tasks:
- We will be looking at this in Webex Essential on Tuesday. Complete this task after this session.
Login to ClickView and listen to the story ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ here.
Talk to a family member, what do you like or not like about the book?
How does the book make you feel? What would you change about the book?
(10 minutes)
- Draw your favourite part of the book. Next to your picture give a reason for why you liked this part.
(15 minutes)

- Was there a part of the book you didn’t like or would change?
Draw this part and remember to add your reasoning.
Why do you feel that way?
(15 minutes)

Writing
Learning Intention:
We are learning to write a recount about something that has already happened
Task:
- Last week you looked at photographs and wrote a sentence about where you went.
This week, we would like you to add in who went with you.
You can use the sentence you wrote last week and add to it, or you could have a go at writing another sentence about a different photograph. Include where you went and who went with you.
See the example below.
(15 minutes)

Learning Intention:
We are learning to write the letter for the sound /x/.
Tasks:
- This week we are learning about the letter x. The word ‘box’ ends with the sound /x/.
Click here to play the letter getter names for the letter x on Sunshine Online.
Listen carefully to the sound this letter makes.
Play the games after the story too.
(10 minutes)
- Practise writing the lowercase letter x ten times in your book.
Make sure you start writing the letter in the correct place.
(10 minutes)

- Draw the following pictures and sound boxes in your workbook.
Write the beginning, middle and end sounds for each of the pictures.
Can you spot where the /x/ sound is?
(15 minutes)

Learning Intention:
We are learning to develop our fine motor skills
Task:
- Login to ClickView and listen to the story ‘Guess How Much I Love You’ here.
Big Nutbrown Hare and Little Nutbrown Hare show each other how they love each other.
On Sunday, it is Father's Day.
Show your dad or someone special in your life that you love them by making them this card.
Trace around both of your hands and cut them out, you might like to decorate them too.
Next, cut a strip of paper and fold it by turning the paper over each time you fold, just like making a fan.
On one hand write ‘I love you’ and on the strip of paper ‘this much’.
Glue one hand to each side of the folded paper.
Use the examples below to help you.
(20+ minutes)

Maths
Learning Intention:
We are learning to order numbers
Task:
- Draw 3 monsters. Ask a family member to write a number between 1-20 on each tummy in random order, for example 8, 5 and 3.
Now cut these out and paste them into your book in order from smallest to largest.
Repeat 2 more times and, if you would like to challenge yourself, get your family member to choose numbers between 1-100.
(15+ minutes)

Learning Intention:
We are learning to ask yes/no questions to collect information
Task:
- Login to ClickView and watch the slideshow ‘Collecting Information - yes/no questions’ here (No audio).
Choose one of the yes/no questions to ask each of your family members.
Keep track of all of their answers by keeping a tally, like the example below.
(20 minutes)

Learning Intention:
We are learning to compare the weight of objects
Task:
- When we compare how heavy or light things are we can use scales.
Create your own set of scales at home like the example below.
Using your scales weigh some items at your house, for example an apple and a spoon, a toy car and pencil.
Which was heavier? Which was lighter? How did you know?
Practise using the scales with a few items and then choose a pair of items to explain to a family member what you found out.
(30+ minutes)

P.E/Movement Breaks:
Learning Intentions:
We are learning to practise a range of PE skills, such as punting, balancing, catching and underarm roll
The aim of this choice board is to let you choose what you would like to do!
It is designed for you to have fun, develop your fitness and skills and encourage you to be happy and healthy.
- For each day, you need to complete one of the following activity boxes
- When you complete all the activity boxes, you can have a go at some of the activities again
Please click here to use the ‘Equipment Replacement list’ to help you create a range of sports equipment at home using household items.

Scavenger Hunt:
Find all the common household items in the link here. When you find each item, check it off your list and have a go at doing the matching exercise.
Challenge: Time yourself and see how quickly you can complete the Physical Scavenger Hunt! Challenge a member of your house and see if they can beat your time.
|
Balloon and Ball Challenges:
Ask an adult to blow up a balloon for you so you can use the balloon to play the following activities. If you don’t have access to a balloon, don’t worry! You can use a beach ball, round toy, round ball or a soft toy.
Remember: If you find any of the activities challenging. You can always move onto the next activity.

Punting a Football:
Log into ClickView, and watch How to Punt a Football video here. There are a range of challenges you can complete. Make sure to watch the whole video!
Challenge: Create a punting activity, for example:
- You might use a range of kicking implements, such as paper, soft toy, tennis ball or a football.
- Create a game using targets such as, a hoop to punt into or a plastic water bottle to knock down with your punting implement.
- You may use a points or elimination system where the first player to knock down the most plastic water bottles, or scores a certain amount of points, wins.
- Punt a football as far as you can. Send a video of yourself punting a football via the Sentral Parent Portal to either Mr M or Mrs Yue-Lamb.
|
Balance and flexibility:
For this activity, you will need enough space for your arms and legs to stretch freely without having to touch anything inside or outside your house.
See if you can hold each position for 20 sec or more!
Remember: Your muscles keep your body upright. Without your muscles you wouldn’t be able to stretch, bend or walk. To keep your muscles strong and flexible, it is important to exercise them every day!
A great way to make this activity more fun is to use some music!
Click here to download your activity.
|
Knock ‘em Down:
For this activity, you need a range of target objects (e.g. teddies, toilet rolls, drink bottle) and a round ball. You will also need to create a points system for hitting certain targets e.g. 1 point to knock down the toilet roll tower, 2 points to knock down the water bottle, etc.
You must use an underarm roll to knock down or hit your targets. The distance away from the target can be as far or as close as you would like it to be.
Once you are more confident with your underarm roll, challenge yourself and have a starting point further away. You can even allocate larger or bigger points for the targets that are harder to knock down e.g. A small object might be worth more points.
If you like, send a video of yourself practising the underarm roll to either Mr M or Mrs Yue-Lamb via the Sentral Parent Portal.

Inquiry
Learning Intention:
We are learning to share an important family object
Task:
- Each family has objects that are important to them. It might be a photo, old toy, a statue, medals, artwork or jewellery.
Ask your family members about what they think is important to your family.
Why is this object important to your family?
See some examples below of things that are important to the Prep teachers.
Draw a picture or attach a photo of this object and write a sentence about why it is important.
(20+ minutes)
To be successful in this task:
- I can choose an object that’s important to my family
- I can ask a family member why it is important
- I can write a sentence explaining why it is important
*Please take a photo of the above task and send it to your teacher through the Sentral Parent Portal

Science
Learning Intention:
We are learning to observe the effect of wind on different materials
Task:
- Wave your hands in front of your face.
Now spin in a circle with your arms out.
What can you feel when you do this? The air moves!
When you feel the air moving outside it’s called wind.
How can you tell that there is wind?
Sometimes you can see the trees moving.
How else do you know there is wind?
(5 minutes)
- An object we can use to tell if there is wind is a wind chime.
You can see them move in the wind and they can even make noise.
Collect some objects from the ground outside like sticks, leaves, gumnuts.
Maybe even collect some objects from inside your house like bells, bottle tops or cutlery.
Use string to make your wind chime. Look at the picture below for inspiration.
Hang your wind chime up outside and observe how it moves in gentle and strong wind.
