What cultural festivals or events have you or your family celebrated?

Art
Year 5
Learning Intentions:
We are learning to
Eco friendly arts and crafts have become popular as people are aware of the effects of pollution in our world. Spanish Designer Alvaro Catalan de Ocon created the PET Lamp Project as a way to promote indigenous cultures and repurpose plastic bottles.
This activity can last as long as you need to finish and you can go back to it from time to time.

Year 6
Learning Intention:
We are learning to create and display artwork, considering how ideas can be expressed to an audience
2nd Animation lesson
Once you have 9 positions or shapes for your collaged character, you can begin to position parts of the body as you imagine it would move in between those shapes.
You may have to trace parts you have already made, or make new parts of the body to move around.
Consider cutting pieces off your original collage and moving these around.
To begin photographing, find a clean table at home, with a bright light.
Place the pieces of your collage onto and beside a clean page in your Visual Arts Diary.

Set things up and take your first photo.
Move pieces in a small way towards the next position in your sequence, taking a photo of each change as you go.
Squeeze as many movements between positions as you can. (try for 10)
Log into ClickView and click here to see my own collage come to life.
Notice that I’m not doing much. My sequence is 17 seconds long and I have 51 photos. But I have played it quite slow so you can see my segments.
If the video is played faster (8 seconds) it would look much smoother, but would be very short so I would want more photos to keep it smooth. The more photos you take in a sequence the smoother your animation will become.
If you have an iPad or an iPhone you can use for this activity, you can use the same software as me and send me the video.
I am using Stop Motion Studio.
The video file format I am using is MOV.
If you can make a video from your photos on another device, or using a different software and send it to me in this format, I may be able to add it to the sequence of videos.
The idea is I will join all your videos up to make an animation about Year 6 2020.
Keep all your photos saved separately, even if you make a video at home.
Have fun and good luck! I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
Please email me with any questions.
Library
Learning Intention:
We are learning about an author/illustrator of our choice.
Choose an author/illustrator you would like to learn more about.
Your project is to study an author/illustrator.
The author is to have published at least 4 titles.
You can present your finished project to your family and/or save it and present it back at school.
It should be 2-3 minutes in length.
Please ensure all information is written in your own words.
If you use words directly from a book or website it is called plagiarism.
When you have used information from a book or website, you need to list these in your bibliography so we know where the information came from.
To learn about avoiding plagiarism and writing a bibliography,
log in to ClickView and watch Avoiding Plagiarism: Bibliographies
You can learn about your author, by investigating their website.
There is also information about different authors on ClickView, Story Box Library and ABC Education.
(your author may be featured on these sites).
Your presentation should contain a biography about your author and a summary of important and relevant information.
This can be presented in different ways.
Some ideas include:
You can use props, have books to show and any other relevant information that you think will enhance your presentation e.g. you could video yourself reading a chapter of your author’s favourite book.
If you would like to hear Mrs Keogh (a.k.a. Professor Dumbledore) read a few pages of one of her favourite books
‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ log in to ClickView and watch Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
To listen to the rest of this book on audible click here.
Have fun. I look forward to seeing the finished product.
