Spanish
Learning Intention:
We are learning to identify different feelings and emotions
We can be happy, sad, worried, anxious, excited, nervous and angry.
These are all emotions and feelings that we can think and feel in our day.
Activity 1:
Click here to access the book “I Have Feelings (Tengo sentimientos)” on Epic!
Step 1: Look at the pictures on Page 3.
Can you describe what feelings each child is showing on their face or through their body language?
Can you think of a time when you have felt the same way?
Step 2: Read the book in English or ask an adult to read it to you. You can look at the pictures to give you clues about the feelings the children have.
Step 3: Log on to ClickView and listen to how the words are pronounced in the book here.
Log on to ClickView and listen to the entire book here.
Key vocabulary*:
Enofado/enofada- angry
Furioso/furiosa- mad
Valiente- brave
Feliz- happy
Orgulloso/orgullosa- proud
Triste- sad
Asustado/asustada- scared
Gracioso/graciosa- excited.
Activity 2: My feelings (Mi sentimientos)
Lots of different things can affect the way that we feel.
You might be happy when you are eating your favourite food.
You can be sad if you hurt yourself.
You can be angry or upset if someone else is mean to you.
Step 1: Choose one of the feelings from the list above that best describes how you feel RIGHT NOW.
Step 2: Write this word at the top of your page or ask an adult to help you.
Step 3: Draw a picture of yourself that shows why you might feel this way. Think about how your face needs to be drawn.
Are you smiling, frowning, crying or laughing?
*Note for parents: Spanish words are divided into masculine and feminine words.
If you are a boy, many masculine words that you use will end in an –O
If you are a girl, many feminine words will end in an –A
Music
Learning Intention:
We are learning to sing and dance to a song.
There are two new sections of the song ‘We Go Together’ to learn over the next 3 weeks.
Log into ClickView and choose one of the following videos:
Click here for the choreography (dancing)
Click here for the spoken chant in the middle of the song
When you have learnt all your sections to the song:
Click here to sing along with the whole song!
Art
Learning Intention:
We are learning to experiment with different materials and techniques to make artworks and to create and display artworks.
Look closely at some egg carton masks here and look at an empty egg carton.
Can you see the parts of the egg carton that have been used to make the masks?
Now cut your carton so you have two eyes and a nose, like one of the masks you have seen.
Cut holes in the eyes and attach string to the edges so you can tie the mask on and still see.
Finally decorate the mask with water colour paint and glue on interesting additions such as feathers, buttons or glitter.

Library
Learning Intention:
We are learning to make choices about books that we read
Book Week this year is October 17-23 (Term 4).
Every year there is a theme for Book Week and this year it is ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds’.

Each year across Australia the Children’s Book Council of Australia read lots of books and decide which 6 are the best.
They put these books on a special list called a ‘shortlist’. The judges read these books and then decide which book they think is the best.
During our last library focus you were able to read 5 of the 6 2020 Early Childhood CBCA shortlisted books on Story Box Library. I am excited to announce that the 6th shortlisted book has now been added to Story Box Library.
To read ‘When Billy Was A Dog’ click here.
The theme ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds’ is a very exciting theme to celebrate Book Week.
To hear Mrs Keogh read a story about a curious creature with a wild mind, log in to ClickView and watch Thelma the Unicorn.
Imagine you are a curious creature with a wild mind.
Design and create a curious creature that you would like to be.
You may base it on a creature from one of your favourite books or you could create it from your imagination.
Give your curious creature a name.
You can construct it,
paint it,
draw it
make it out of playdough or any other way you can think of.
It might look like one of the creatures in the image below.

We would love for your curious creature to be displayed in the library during Book Week.
