Monday
Warm-up
60 Second Challenge: Skipping Click here
Your challenge today is to practise your eye-hand coordination by attempting to juggle a scarf.
If you don’t have any scarves, you could use a tissue, a plastic bag, an old t-shirt or some small bath towels.
Can you complete at least 5 of the 14 challenges?
There is no time limit for this activity. Practise for as long as you are allowed. Remember to show a growth mindset and practise, practise, practise!
Mr M can complete 8 of the 12 challenges. Can you beat him?
Mrs Yue-Lamb can complete ALL the challenges! Can you beat her?

Toss and catch with 2 hands
Toss and catch with your right hand only
Toss and catch with your left hand only
Alternate tossing and catching hands e.g. toss with right and catch with left
Toss and then catch at different levels e.g. high, medium, low
Toss and catch on different body parts e.g. arm, head, shoulder, finger, leg foot, etc.
Toss, sit down, catch
Toss, clap once, catch (see how many claps you can get)
Toss, spin around, catch
Toss, touch the floor, catch
Place scarf on shoelaces, kick it up, catch
Hold the scarf up to your chest, start running, let go of the scarf and see how long it will stay “stuck” to you.
Make up your own trick and teach it to a family member.
Find a partner.
Stand about 3 giant steps apart facing each other.
On the count of three, toss your scarf up and try and catch your partner’s scarf before it hits the ground.
If successful, take one step further apart.

Ring of Fire!
Steps: Set up 5 objects in a circle, then place markers at varying distances away from the obstacles (see the diagram below). Tall objects which can fall down easily make the best obstacles for this game e.g. water bottles.
Using an underarm throw, aim to land your ball inside the obstacles without knocking any of them down.
Start by throwing from the closest marker and move back to the next when you successfully land the ball inside the circle.
You might also want to experiment with different types of objects to throw e.g. teddy bear or scrunched up paper.
Questions: Explain the best shape of the ball flight path to keep the obstacles standing up e.g. a straight line, a rainbow shape?
How can you change your throwing technique to make the ball move in the best flight path?
How did you change your throw when you found you weren’t landing the ball in the target?
At what speed does the ball/object move when you are trying to aim for a small target?
Why?
Was it easier or harder depending on the object you used to throw with?

Catching Challenge
Today you are going to practise your catching skills.
Catching is a great way to develop your hand-eye coordination.
Can you complete the catching challenges and see if you can become a ‘superstar’ catcher?

Try your best to copy the exercises.
Complete a warm up for 30 seconds, rest for 30 seconds and continue to the next one until you have completed all of them.
Jump Rope Challenge
Today we are going to practise a wide range of skipping activities.
If you don’t have a skipping rope, you can use a hula hoop, a spare rope or you can simply use your imagination and pretend you have one.
Remember skipping is all about the rhythm so just bounce up and down.
You don’t need a skipping rope for this activity if you have a great imagination!

Learning intention: We are learning to use the verb ‘tener’ (to have) in the present tense
Tienes una mascota? (Do you have a pet?)
When we want to say that we ‘have’ something, such as a pet, we say: Yo tengo un perro (yo ten-go oon pe-rr-o)
Yo tengo un perro
(I) (have) (a) (dog)
When we want to say that we don’t have something, we simply add “No” before tengo
Yo (no tengo) un perro
(I) (don’t have) (a) (dog)
Complete your picture from last week and write the following sentence underneath:
Yo tengo un… (write what type of animal you have).

Music

Learning Intention:
We are learning to create a story by thinking about what is happening in a piece of music.
This will be our last lesson looking at Hoe-Down.

What do you think is happening in this story?
Remember that this song is about cowboys.
What could they be doing?
Think about the tempo, dynamics and the way it makes you feel when you listen to it.
Create a story for this music.
You can tell the story through writing and saying it, singing it, drawing it, dancing it, or a mix of these.
You can use the instruments that you made in week 2 as part of telling the story.
Perform or show your story to someone in your house - it could be your parents, brother or sister, your pet or your toys
(you can set them up like an audience at a concert)!
If you are performing, remember to bow at the end!
Those of you who play an instrument: see how much of Hoe-Down you can play with the orchestra.

Art
60 minutes per week
Learning intention: We are learning to create and display artworks to express ideas to an audience
This week is your chance to be curious about the Art activities you have been doing from home and show off your learning.
Perhaps you missed an activity that you would like to do this week.
Or, you might keep going on something you made and add more to it.
Maybe you thought of something completely different to make while you were working on your Art activities, and you want to try making it this week.
You can use one of the paper snowflakes from last week as a stencil.
A stencil blocks a shape on paper, for tracing or for blocking colour.
Blue tack your snowflake to a new piece of paper and colour lightly over the top of the snowflake and paper, using paints or coloured pencils.
When you lift the snowflake off the page, there should be a clean snowflake shape underneath.
If you've painted, leave your work somewhere safe to dry, wash your brushes and put everything away neatly when you’re finished.
Display all your completed works together somewhere in the house, like a little gallery.
Take some photos, invite your family to the exhibition and ask them to talk to you about your work and what they think.
Email the photos of your work to Ms Farlow.

Learning Intention:
We are learning to compare similarities and differences between two fictional characters.
Last week we looked at physical and character traits of fictional characters.
Listen to the story ‘Pig the Elf’ on Story Box Library to understand more about the traits of the characters in the Pig the Pug series of books. Click here

What physical and character traits does the other main character Trevor display in the story?
Do Pig and Trevor show any of the same traits?
Create a Venn diagram just like the one below and compare the physical and character traits of Pig and Trevor.
Write how they are similar in the middle section and how they are different in the sections under their names.
