Parent Payment Arrangements - Year 4 2022

Parents should be aware that the Department of Education and Training has changed the receipting process for Parent Payments; please ensure you retain your receipt for future reference.

PARENT PAYMENT ARRANGEMENTS for 2022

Dear Parents/carers,

Laburnum Primary School advises you of our parent payment arrangements for 2022.

Please find the contribution schedule for Year 4 attached. Please complete this form and return it to the school by 2 December 2021, so the school can order items needed for your child’s learning next year.

Each year, School Council determines the following year’s cash budget by considering teaching and learning programs and the key improvement areas in the School Strategic Plan. Laburnum Primary School makes every effort to keep the cost of items and activities to a minimum.

Laburnum Primary School has a tradition of offering our students a rich learning program. Your payment of the contribution requests ensures the continued delivery of high-quality programs in classrooms and specialist areas. Contribution requests for online resources are included for 2022.

We are always grateful for the additional support parents provide by volunteering their time and efforts and conducting important fundraising, which has resulted in exceptional resources for our students.

Funding to meet the school’s budget comes from three sources:

  1. DET (Department of Education and Training) Student Resource Package
  2. Parent Payments, through Voluntary Contributions, including the Tax-Deductible Building Fund and Curriculum Contributions (formerly Essential Items)
  3. Local fundraising, including a valued contribution from our Parents Group through fundraising.
In the past few years, Parent Contributions and local fundraising funds provided:
  • Year 5/6 Shade sail
  • New LED lighting to whole school
  • Purchase & fit out of the new LAB building
  • Fencing around the new deck of LAB building
  • Student toilet upgrades
  • New door locks and handles in 10 classrooms
  • New COVID Safe First Aid furniture
  • Air conditioners for classrooms & First Aid room
  • Window replacements in 10 classrooms
  • Resurfacing of Hall floor
  • New Shade sails over playground
  • New student furniture in Year 1, 4 & 5
  • New bubblers for drinking troughs
  • New hand washing taps in troughs
  • Painting and upgrade of play equipment
  • Repairs to synthetic play surfaces and ongoing mulching around playgrounds
  • New carpet for seven classrooms
  • Ongoing gutter cleaning/replacement
  • Continuous improvements to exit/security lighting

The DET Student Resource Package meets salaries and most operational costs of running the school. It does not, however, meet all the cost of materials or the enriched learning programs that we offer in Intervention, Music, Visual Arts, Languages (Spanish), Library and Physical Education. It is also insufficient to meet the planned maintenance of, and improvements to, buildings and grounds.

The school relies heavily upon voluntary parent financial contributions to meet the difference between funds from the Student Resource Package and our budgeted expenditure each year.
