Laburnum enjoys a wonderful culture of Music and Performing Arts. Our program provides a platform for students to connect, express ideas, achieve and thrive within the Performing Arts arena.
The Music curriculum encompasses different musical approaches and we cover topics which include beat, rhythm, tempo, dynamics, pitch patterns, instrumentation and form. Students explore music from a variety of genres through singing, playing classroom percussion instruments, movement and analysis.
At Laburnum there are lots of opportunities for children to perform for their peers in both class and at assemblies. We encourage participation in one of our many performance groups, which include: Choirs, Concert Band, String Ensemble and Year 3 Dance Group.
We run an extensive, optional instrumental lesson program from Year 1 to Year 6 with expert tuition on a wide range of instruments including strings, percussion, woodwind, brass, guitar and piano.
Our talented students are also featured in a variety of annual music events, including our own Gala Concert, Victorian Bands Festival, State Schools Spectacular, Music Count Us In performance, Oxfam Music Festival and Christmas Concert.
