Helping Out At Laburnum
Working BeesRegular working bees are scheduled throughout the year. Not only do we achieve a lot of work around the school, it is a great opportunity to get to know know other school families. A sausage sizzle lunch is always ways a part of the day.
Class Parent Representative
Each grade has a parent to act as a liaison with parents and class teacher in the organisation of classroom and wider school assistance and grade social activities.
Parents and Curriculum
A significant feature of our school is the number of parents actively involved in a wide range of educational activities and support roles within and without the classroom. This greatly enhances the breadth and quality of our programs.
Parents are invloved in the Rosner program, Literacy program, classroom reading, activity maths, sport, computer activities, excursions, library processing and special grade activities.
Parent Library Resources
A special section in our school library has been established for Parent/Teacher loan only. There are a range of resources offered dealing with topics including death, divorce, puberty, new babies and moving house. Other topics are included to help support parents and teachers with the wellbeing of every child. These include bullying, anxiety, fear, self-esteem, anger and friendship. Parents may browse and borrow any morning before school from 8.45 a.m. Borrowed books will be listed under their child's name but will not affect the individual borrowing limit for their child. Please feel welcome to access and enjoy the range of resources offered.
School Council
The School Council is the governing body of the school made up of staff and parent members. Parents are encouraged to participate in a range of active sub-committees.
Parents' Group
Parents' Group actively encourage the involvement of parents and friends of the Laburnum School Community. The primary aims of the group are to advance the social and financial welfare of the school.
